its unlikely to overrev unless you mishift.
how high did you rev it?
did you mishift or idid it seem like you hit rev limiter a little higher, like 8700rpm?

the REAL cutoff of an ITR is 8600
8400 redline, 8600 fuel cut
some people try to say its 8500 fuel cut and 8200 redline, but thats wrong
....i got the specs right here...
if ur fuel cut isnt at 8600...ur tach is probably wrong or ur car was chipped
go look at ur tach, the second red line is even at 8600, not 8500

the tach signal reads ~8650 peak on the vafc after you bounce
I'd attribute it to the fuel cut being hit at 8600 and "shutting" it down for the next 50 revs

Second (third?) that. Mine's 400 off (high) above 6500, porbably more. I thought I overrevved once, but I've never hit rev limiter or fuel cut.

Go to an autocross, listen to people (experienced drivers) bounce off their rev limiters numerous times, then you'll rev the hell out of your engine with no worries.

I completely agree haha. I remember seeing countless Z06's hit the rev limiter at the end of their run (on a strait)

According to Honda (expo contacts and press releases) it's 8500 cut. 8400redline of course. I'll still take what honda says over helms (who has the GS-R info wrong too..)
