Fix up a 1990 240sx or a 1999 Civic Si

Well I bought myself a 240sx and since I just had my kid I could only fix up one of these cars. For the 99MilanoRedSi I was thinking to go with a Kseries K20a2 swap for the 240 sx I was thinking a sr20 swap with a bunch of goodies like fmic, dp , full exhaust and some good coilovers and volks. What sounds better for you guys.

IVe basicly decided on the K20 Swap but maybe you guys can give me some pros and cons about the two options maybe it could change my mind a little.

if you've already made up your mind I won't bother stating anything else but personally I'd NEVER swap a FWD instead of a RWD. In my mind FWD is the budget way to go about getting some speed and having some fun. I'm sure plenty will flame me for that, but I think a majority of the board is here because they couldn't afford anything RWD with more HP. I know personally a civic wouldn't be my first choice of cars if I had the $$ to do something else :-p
Well I personally would want a RWD rather than a FWD, so you know my choice is the 240 with SR swap. Plus the SR motor had a strong block stock and can easily handle 400rwp on stock internals with good tuning. Im not sure what your goals are power wise, but if your looking to boost than i would suggest the 240 over the civic.
Either way, both engines make awesome power with a couple of mods. Only upside is the k20 NA is way more responsive and you've got power on tap at all timesand can easily have 220+ whp. Do you have any friends with sr20 s240's? I would just drive them and base your decision on the drive.
I believe the sr20 will feel very torquey since it is turboed and even riding in a stock eclipse gs-t it felt torquey(nothing fast). That feeling of torque is an awesome feeling for me.
As my next car, I am thinking of going with maybe an rb25 or sr20 240sx with an s13 front end, I am in love with those front ends. RWD will be next thing for sure.

How about you start a $5,000 CD for your newborn and keep it until they turn 18 that way they can have money for school, car, house payments, etc.

Thats a dumb answer...
you have no reasons to even back yourself up. I say go for the 240, nothing beats a rwd monster, save the civic for daily driving

I would personally get a 240 and fix it up instead of my si but thats just becase I LOVE the way the 240 looks as opposed to my si plus factory turbo motor and a 240 to throw one in costs as much AS a k swap.
The 240sx has more potential as far as handling and power. The si I could only see as something for looks and bragging rights. Even with a k20 it could never have the same potential as a sr20det motor. If both motors were built I'm damn sure the sr20det would be better. If I was you I would definately go for the 240sx.
Oh yeah you should probably get more opinions on threads that aren't biased on a particular car brand.

This is why I made my thread to hear responses like this and 137's and you other guys too. Thank you. Turbo sounds good. I have to drive a SR20 swap too. I never drove one . I have driven a K20R RSX before so I know how they feel. Thanks again guys.

240s are UGLY! Dont get me wrong they can be fast as hell put a turbo on it, silvia swap and ur good. Other wise they are repulsive. There is that a bettery answer.
