Default b18c1 in EG, no CEL's but runs like ***

usdm b18c1 gsr swap in a 93 EX coupe, motor runs and idles just fine, no cel's but it just doesnt feel strong at all, im wondering if vtec is working, or if the IAB's are even working. The car seems dead and doesnt pull like it should.
any ideas of where to start?
im going to check timing, spark plugs etc.. tommorow , anything else i can take a look at

Check your valve lash...if they are way off it will run like ***. also do a compression check.

Checking the timing could help, but if that was the problem, you would most likely have an incosistent idle. Compression test will at least give you peace of mind for the cylinders.
