I was told that an MSD ignition system isn't compatiable with the EMS for some unknown reason. I'm planning on hitting over 400whp soon and would like to upgrade my ignition system for security reasons. has anyone on here used an MSD ignition system along side their EMS system? I know there aren't too many EMS users on H-T but it's worth a shot asking.
I am...
I'm running an MSD 6AL and have it wired in as my ignitor aswell, w/the ems.
I'm sure you seen the thread on the AEM forum about this.

Mine works good also..
Im running the MSD SCI with blaster ss coil and the AEM EMS..
You can also use the MSD box and the EMS to bypass the ignitor unit so the EMS will fire the MSD box directly..

I have seen info around on HT about it but I dont think there is a formal how-to on it.. From what I have read you just connect the coil output of the EMS to the trigger wire of the MSD box..

hi der....im kinda new in tuning cars......but anywayz.. my ride is a honda civic vtec sohc....i think its a D16Y8....with a simple I/H/E mods.... juz wana ask u guys on how this MSD works cause im planning to get as MSD 6300....is it worth it???? will it make my car run faster on draggg????? tnx
hey guys im doin a integra ls auto/maunal swap and you need to change the ecu .. then someone told me to get a ems ... what exactly is the ems is it the whole ecu or a chip could something please explain and tell me if it would work if i do a auto/5 speed swap
Its a complete tuning system.. You remove your stock ecu and put the ems in there.. Its some piggy back junk or anything like that.. If your just converting from auto to manual on a stock car I would just find a stock 5-speed ecu then.. The ecu isn't going to do much of nothing for you on a stock car and it has a kinda steep learning curve if your not familiar with tuning..
It seems that my car wont start because I am not gettin any spark. This is only a assumtion due to the fact I have not had a lot of time to diagnose the problem. But I am sure it is the reason why it wont start. The light on my MSD ignition wont stay on, and I think it has something to do with the EMS. But who knows. Is there something in the software I must setup if I am using the MSD ignition with my 1010 box?
My Digital 6+ decided to fry itself after four years in my car. I'm just going to stick with stock ignition with the EMS and if I need to upgrade, I'm going for the coil-on plug conversion.

Should still work fine.. The ignition box is after the aem so the aem wont even know if your running the 2-step or not..
