Jun3's with or without ATS FD?
I have the Jun3 head package, including the ECU so I can stretch it out to 9200rpm's if I want. So here is my question. I have read 10 million threads about the ATS, and some like it, some don't. Will the ATS help or hurt my car more in a all around aspect. I have Volk TE-37's 205/50/15, also.
I will be autocrossing my car, but mainly it goes in a straight line. So will the ATS help me, or hurt me in the straight line department? I would love to get on the track one of these days, but I have not been able to yet. The decreased gas milage, and higher RPM's on the Interstate do not bother me, nor does the decreased top speed. I am strictly talking about a performance booster here. I would like to here opinions.

So can someone answer this question, because it seems that everytime it's asked, it gets turned around, so here goes.
If two stock ITR's lined up next to each other, one with stock FD and the other with ATS, which is going to be faster? I know the ATS is faster at certain speeds, and stock is faster at others. But who would win the hypothetical race?

i had jun3s w/ the ATS in my ITR...
honestly..i can tell you the ATS was one of the best things i ever purchased for my car..the Juns ahve long been sold but the ATS is still there

Just buy the ATS f00! I even offered to drive up to B.C. to have it installed at AJ-R. If you can tune out your motor a little better, maybe get the powerband to reach 9000rpms, you'll be close to the MPH in each gear where the stock FD on a stock R would be anyways...
...do you need another ride in my car?

Marsh,
Yes, I may need you to kick me in the nuts again(AKA the straight away at Pacific Raceways), so I can get my stupid *** to buy the fawker.
Looks like I need to start searching for one. Thanks everyone!

waynegro - at first glance to your post, it seems a no brainer to get the ats.
however, take into account of your running 15" rims/tires. i've personally driven these combinations of itr's:
17" rims, ats fd
16" rims, jdm fd
17" rims, jdm fd
15" rims, stock fd (oem
)
16" rims, stock fd
i'll tell you from personal experience, the first combination, with the 17" rims and ats fd rips! someone jump in and correct me if i'm making false statements, but as you go down the list, the rate of acceleration rate for each combination decreases. this is of course assuming equal motors.
now with this in mind, running 15" rims/tires and an ats will REALLY RIP! as long as you won't mind a very drastic change in gearing, i think you should go for it.
kepani-who wants an ats t00!

That horse still breathin'??
ATS all the way. I'm on my 3rd day using the new fd, and I love it to death. The feeling over stock is so much better, i've noticed it more as time goes on and I utilize it in different scenarios.
If you are not planning on turbocharging, there's no reason you should want to keep taller gearing, other than the obvious: higher highway rpm's & quicker shifting. If you don't mind the later two, GO FOR IT!
