the only thing i can think you might be missing is there is a wire clip that holds the cable to the housing. it goes around the cable and in the slot on the left side in this pic.

Are you trying to use a CRX spedo cable in a YS1 LS tranny? Maybe you need the longer 90-91 LS spedo cable. Are you certain the end which plugs into the gauge cluster clicked in? Are you throwing a code 17 for VSS? More info plz. - Darrell

mr. carpenter: yes i have the "U" shape clip. i get it to clip in and the cable stays. but it doesn't work!?!

OldSiHatch: yes i have a 89 crx si speedo cable. i have the 90 integra ls tranny. i'm not 100% sure it clicked in. but i think i heard it click in a few times!!! yes i'm throwing a code 17.

and to add. i checked behind my gauge cluster. to make sure the cable was still attach'd to it. and it is.

i had this problem a week ago and found out the what the problem was by taking my guage cluster out and the problem was that the speed cable was out of the cluster ,my speed cable was messed up so i went to the junk yard and bought one and fixed the problem in an instant.

if its attached at both ends it could be a broken cable... i ran my 90 speed sensor in my s1 tranny for a couple years w/ no probs.
