Default Can we talk speedo cable?? b16 CRX

It all started with code 17. Checked VSS and everythings good. I noticed when installing the VSS the speedometer cable had alot of slack. So much that I can pull it all the way out. After feeding it back in and check the cluster side It does not reach. I can look in the connector and the cable is not there to plug in the back of the speedometer. How is the cable supposed to attach to the connecter??

Is the 90-91 integra cable any longer? Will it solve my problem?

i have the J1 tranny, 1st gen b16

Thanks for any help,

I've had lots of problems getting my b16a's speedo cable inserted correctly.

You can use the stock cable, but do this

1. Pull the VSS out of the tranny.

2. Align the cable to go into the spot on the vss, and then push them together while spinning hte gear on the end. You might need two people to help with this.

3. You'll feel the VSS slide farther up on the cable than it ever has before when it hits the right spot... it's about a half inch deeper than usualy.

4. lock in place using the retaining clip, and reinstall VSS with cable attached.

DONE.

Definately good info, but mines disconnected from the cluster. I wont even reach the cluster. I think its about 1-2 inches short. I guess I'll order a stock one and integra one and compare lengths.

How does the cable attach to the cluster anyway?? Is there supposed to be a clip or something? Mine has the sleeve hooked to the connector but no male end to plug into the speedo????

Thanks agin for any help,
