Default 1990 Accord weird problem..need help

I friend of mine at work drives a 1990 Accord and he tells me that the car drives fine but after 5-10 mins of driving the speedo starts to jump and the Overdrive light starts to blink and the check engine light comes on. The next time the car is turned on the check engine light is not there but it comes back after 5-10 mins later.

You could find out the code, jumper the connector and turn on the key....then count the flashes.

The check engine lite is set as a request from the trans control unit.

Since the check engine light comes and goes, do I have to wait for the light to come on to pull the codes or can you pull the codes anytime???

Also what the the codes?? Anyone got a quick link for a 4th gen.. without telling me to SEARCH!!
