Default ITR owners please help.(insurance)

Well, some of you might remeber my post from a couple weeks back and how I crashed and totaled my R. Well, I have alittle problem and I don't know what to do, so I thought you guys/gals can help me.
I have a PY00 ITR with 59k and it's pretty much stock, I have Intake, Spoon calipers, camber kit and some shitty Skunk2 coilovers. I bought my for 18.5k last year and I put down $4700 on my 5yr. loan. Now my insurance is telling me that my car is valued at $16,679 that is without the $500 deductable taken out. and I still owe $12,491 on my loan, so I am only goiung to get about $3,400. The reason I am kinda mad is because my insurance kept asking me question that they should already know. They asked me if I had leather seats, sunroof, and cruise control. I said "No, Type R's do not come with any of that" and they said their computers show some R's come with cruise control. I asked them " Are you sure you are not looking at GSR's and they said no.

What should I do? Any help would be appreciated

Also, I am debating on weather or not I should buy my car back and take that motor out and put it in a hatch or should I just cut my losses and save for an S2000?

Questions?
1. how much would insurance cost on a 92 hatch?(ball park figure)
2. How much will insurance cost on an S2000?
Right now I pay $280 a month. Thanks for any help.

I pay about the same. I would tell them that b/c of the rareity of the car, it carries a higher value than most tegs. I would imagine they were looking at a GS-R just like you thought b/c I doubt there is enough sales data on type-r's to correctly estimate it's value. Good luck explaining that to the *** holes...I mean insurance companies.

oh, the hatch will probably cost less than half of the R in insurance premiums, especially if you get liability. The S2k will probalby be about the same as the R. All of this will depend on where you live, your MVR (driving record), ect. My step mom is a business insurance underwriter, but she did vehicle for a long time. I would guess about 1000 a year or so for the hatch, but you should call your insurance company and ask. All you need is a vin number and they should be able to give you a quote over the phone. Good luck!

I don't think the ins. company is being that unfair with the quote. Maybe go down there with a ITR brochure so you can CALMLY explain that it's not a regular Integra, and see what data they used to get their estimate to make sure it's accurate.

But really, 1800 in depreciation over a year isn't bad. And you can't expect to get your money back for the bolt-on mods, unless you have a specific clause in your insurance for it.

p.s. move out of Cali and your insurance will go down I pay about $900 a year.

call 3 acura dealerships, get a quote as to what they would sell your car for. Send that to the insurance comapny, and typically they will pay out the average of the 3 quotes... worked for me, and worked for another guy on here who had his R stolen recently.

the amount you are getting for the R is within reason.

Sounds about right with the quote that they gave you...I would buy the car and put all the parts that you can savage into a eg hatch, this is if the motor is still good. Yeah a S2000 thousand is nice but it would also be nice to have that $350-$400 in your pockets in every month instead of giving it to so finance company or bank...

But first thing first you need to find a way to get those Spoon Calipers off!

I pay $120/mo insurance on a 97 civic hatch. This is in PA. I don't know what that equals out to in Cali, but I think it's cheap. I am 21 years old, clean driving record, and I have a pretty good full coverage policy.

I was shocked to see $280/mo insurance for the R. DAMN!

essentially what I did about a year ago when mine was stolen.. except I used private ads as well..

you might get them up some, but not much.. just to warn you.. insurance companies try hard not to understand "limited production vehicle" and that NADA doesn't always represent their true resale value.. that said, 16,700 is not bad at all..

i would definitely buy it back, if you want to put your parts in a hatch.. it will probably be more profitable for you to do this and then sell what you don't need..

insurance on the hatch will be about 60% of what it was on the ITR.. The S2000 would probably be about the same..

The current N.A.D.A. is 16875 with 59K miles. There are no options for the Type R listed with NADA used retail.

Insurance companies always lowball a total. Afterall, they are out to make money. If the insurance company doesn't think that your car is special, buy it back if the price is right, and then part it.

If you want to try and raise the value, ask for the workshhet on your car. You can often argue the condition of the vehicle. They had my wife's 10 month old Civic listed as average, not excellent, when they tried to total it.
