umm, cruise control wont use up any more gas then what u set it at.. if you go up hill, you might have to take if off and down shift it, or put more gas to it to go up.. but if you use cruise control, it wont, it stay's at whatever you set it at, unless u go downhill, then it lets off the gas, or if you go up hill, it might press down the gas a little bit more for you.. just depends on the streets..

if you did all that, then i think your good to go..

if you want too, u could run a bottle of sea foam through the car to clean out the carbon build up, may free up some HP and give you better intake/exhaust flow too, and in return, less gas

Check all fluids... it gets hot in Florida.

Check brakes.

go through normal maintanance... you're going to pass through some mountains so make sure the brakes are up to the task. whenever i use cruise control (i travel back and forth from NC to ohio often which is 500 miles) i use more gas then just using my foot. if you're not getting around 30mpg on the highway now, something is wrong and i would fix it before trying the trip. right before you leave, just make sure all fluids are in good shape, your car is relatively new (specially compared with my 93.) i think you'll be fine, have fun!

It's a great drive....you'll have a great time. It's a perfect time to stretch it's legs too.....just don't get caught speeding cuz VA, S.C. and GA don't play!

just my experience when i went to florida and the necessary tune up i did when i went...

i just went to florida like 2 weeks ago and i drove my teg which was stored for almost 5 years now...all i did was change oil, check tires wash and wax and then i left...the car had 31K miles on it and it ate a lot of gas considering it was sitting for sooooooo long...but when i got to florida i changed it again and it was still eating a lot of gas but at least when i got back to michigan it wasnt eating a lot anymore...btw just use your cruise controll and no you dont have down shift to go up them hills they are not steep enough...since my car is an ls and at 65 the rpm is about 3k so cruise controll will do all the work for you...

hope that helps with the cruise and tune up...

I drove a couple of my tegs for 1,000 mile road trips, and they each had way more miles than yours does. As long as you have kept up on the reg. maintenance, you'll be fine.
I did 80-100mph the whole way to Richmond, VA last week, and didn't get stopped once by highway patrol, and averaged a bit better than 30mpg. I love road trips.....get some fresh mountain air, and have a safe trip

oh yeah, sign up with a road side assistance program just incase. I got one with my cell phone, but AAA is good too.

i drive from va to fl for school theres not much you should worry about since your car is relatively new. you might want to change out your fuel filter, keep a nice tire pressure for better milage. maybe get a full size spare just incase u get a flat. reset your ecu, again for better gas milage. . im sure your gonna be on I95 its all straight and flat so use your cruise control. i drive a stock 5spd 00 ls and got 40mpg@70-80 mph believe it or not.

If your car is in generally good shape you will be fine. Cruise control will help your gas mileage becuse you will be less likely to be flooring it going on certain parts of roads, it keeps the rpms at a more steady range. Whenever you stop I would check things periodically just to make sure.

oh yeah, also take a quart of oil with you if your teg burns oil, cause chances are after 700 to 800 miles you mihgt have to feed it a little bit.

last week, flying through va to richmond and back, I didn't see one cop. Now I saw many people getting pulled over in DE

Not to pick on anyone, but what mountains are you going to encounter on I-95? Last time I checked there weren't any?

the front license plate shouldn't be a big deal cause that goes by your home state; they can't give you a ticket for that if you are just passing through.
