How to identify an Si tranny?
I am going to be buying an Si tranny for my Si (has a DX tranny now) And I want to be sure that what I get is an actual Si transmission.
What are the proper markings to look for.
It will be 89-91 Civic Si Tranny, not an 88 since splines are different
Thanks

check the pass side of the tranny
where the axle goes in theres a fill 17mm plug
next to that theres a stamp on the trann case
if PL3/x000 where x=3, 9, 1, then its an Si
if PL3/Ax00 where x =3, 9, 1 then is a DX... DX trannies have a letter with numbers on the stamp
the year is told by the input shaft where the clutch goes into.... if the tip before the spindles has 0 grooves, is a 88, if 1 groove is a 89, if 2 grooves then is a 90-91
alos by looking where the axle goes in.. the differentials themselve are a lil more beefier on the Si, and its considerably ticker than the DX..............

Hey USDM,
Not to disagree, but I have been searching and found this thread (Pg. 2 at bottom)

This guy is saying that an
Si = A001
Dx = A000
And you are saying its
Si = x000
Dx = Ax00
I'm still confused
