How do you know if it's an si tranny?
I want to buy an si tranny, 90 or 91 don't know exactly. How can I make sure it is from an si? There is a code on the tranny right? Anybody knows what it is?
Thanks

PL3/3000 cast into the casing just above the fill plug.
PL3/A000 or A100 denotes the smaller bearing HF, DX, STD tranny.
Whose your D tranny guru?????

i really don't think so. i looked at my dx tranny and the si i have in the car and both have different numbers on them. i think all of those trannies are marked l3 followred by what seems to be a production number or something, but i don't think it differentiates(sp) between the si and dx and hf.

so what is the code for the ZC tranny? just curious....i have one and want to makre sure ididn't get screwed as i didn't install it myself.
88 has 21 teeth on input shaft- 89 and up have 20. This only matters with clutch selection. 88 and 89 used a smaller diameter clutch disc (200mm) and 90 and up used 212mm disc.
My appoligies to you mista bone. i thought you were refering to the sticker on the front. i just checked my old dx tranny and the si, you are the tranny guru.

ok so how do you tell what year a tranny is? i am going to get a tranny today that i believe i am getting ripped on. it was from a previous swap that i had some people do and they told me they put my 88 crx si tranny in my car, but i don't think that is right. so what i am asking is, is there any way to tell what year a tranny is just by looking at it?
When the syncros went bad in my tranny I thought ok it says L3 so I need an L3. Well I bought it and my gearing is now a lot shorter. I think I got an Si tranny. Oh well who needs to go past 80 on the freeway anyhow.
