Default muffler question

Well i got a 4 door (heavy)and 4 cylinder So it wont make any difference if i want my car to be faster. i just want my car to be cool as possible. I am not going for speed or something, i just want growling sound when i start the car.
I was thinking of getting a muffler (not sure what brand is good)....not a cat back..... because i am saving money to get a cold air intake.
So my question would a muffler gave me a growling sound like a cat back exhaust?

thanks to all accord members.

PS:
i just install my H&R spring sports and its awesome no bounce and gave me a 2.2 drop front (as advertised its 1.75F). it looks good on my plus3 rims/tires. i will wear out the shocks and tires and i will finally buy a camber kit and high end suspension/strut.

The intake will give you more of the growl sound than the muffler will...but eventually im sure you will want the cat back. When i first got my car i just put a muffler on and it purred a little bit but then i got used to it and i wanted it louder and more powerful so i went for the full exhaust. But if like u said, ur going for sound over speed, get a short ram intake instead of cold air.

First of all, the S2000 has a four cylinder, enough said.

Second, I am 90% sure that the 4dr weighs as much as the coupe.

give the guy a break, mr. 8 posts.

You don't need to save for a cold air. Get a crappy one off ebay and put a genuine K&N cone air filter on the end of it and it'll save you money and perform no different. Get a full catback, stainless steel. You'll not be happy with a muffler. If you just want to be loud, use a glass pack and a straight through pipe. It will be hideous, it will be annoying, you will hate driving, but it will give you that loud sound. Even though Accords are heavy they can still be fast. You dont need all this cosmetic performance (muffler only for sound), you can have a great daily driver if you take the time to actually improve your car in every aspect (engine suspension exhaust brakes wheels/tires audio)

I have a 4 door too. I've also saved over 1500 bucks as of now just to get a turbo done right. If you work hard and abandon your life as you know it, you will have a fast car.

The Preludes also have 4cyl engines...I got a 4 cyl on my Accord and it seems to jet me around!
This is how you do it...(in order)
1. Intake System (i went for the AEM short RAM cause DYNOs showed not enough difference btween CAI and SRI so i thought, hell, i save some money)
2. Headers...Headers will take a lot of OEM weight off of your 4 door. I'd look at DC Sports and Greddy...They've got the best reputations...I've got a DC Sports 4-2-1 ceramic
3. Catback system...Research this a lot...this is where i am now...I'm trying to decide between a DC Sports catback or a custom one with a universal Ractive DTM muffler on it...

If you follow these steps, you can:
1. Avoid being a ricer
2. Sound badass
3. Add some pick up to your pony...oh, and all of that, depending on some variables, will increase your HP from between 45-100hp....even if you get the 45, it's worth it

Good luck, and DONT RICE IT!

OK which one will gave more growl Cold Air intake or Aem Short ram intake (warm air intake) ????
I know for speed its cold air intake you can gain 10-15HP and warm air (aka short ram intake) 7-10HP.
which one will give my muffler better growl?

those numbers are high. dont worry about power, bolt-ons dont do as much as you think for your car. if the growl is really what you want, get a cheap muffler and a ebay sr.

I made up my mind i am getting a AEM short ram intake not CAI.
the only weakness i can see for short ram is HP and

Positive side is
1.)Cool whistle while accelerate
2.)sounds cool (this is what i am looking for)
3.)easy install
4.)cheaper than CAI
5.)looks good in the engine.

correct me if i am wrong.
also i will be getting cat back exhaust system ...cuz the short ram is cheaper.

thanks fellow accord member I was about to get a cold air intake that cost a lot more and get a muffler.
