Default motor swap in hatch, what's better?

i prolly gonna get a hatchback soon a 92-95 one and was wondering what's better. the usdm h22 v-tec or the usdm gs-r engine? i want it for drag racing. later i want to turbo it. one more question if i put a 96 gs-r engine and tranny can i fit a greddy street legal turbo kit in the hatch with the motor swap? the reason im pickin that turbo is cause i want to be street legal and not hassle with smog problems. thanks

JDM H22A. It's that simple!

for drag h22 is a good choice; since you want it steet legal you will most likely be driving it around as well --- the lighter b18 engine (though still heavier than 1.6l honda engines) will create a car that handles much much better. The weight of the h22 over the front wheels throws off steering while turning/under pressure.

i'm nearly positive that there's enough room in the eg w/b18c1 for a greddy turbo. I have that set up and you could practically stand in the space b/n the motor and the bumper. If there is A/C will probably have to remove it. It takes up a lot of space in that front area.

search for the answer to this. just type "h22 vs b18" or something similar. this has been covered a milliion times. very sensitive subject.

I prefer the b18c1 over the h22. Not that there is anything inherently wrong/bad with an h22 setup in a light hatch.

But I prefer searching most of all.

h22 is ******* quick, its 5th gear just amazes me. Floor it at 80 in 5th gear and youll be up at 130 in no time. This thing is a top end BEAST. Make sure you have the money and time to do the wiring right, get good mounts and get custom axles.

i love going fast
