Default Fear Hydyo-Lock? Some info

I was looking around the net and i found that K&N makes something called a dry charger wrap that fits over the intake cone. this thing makes it so that water is repelled from the cone, protecting from hydro lock in CAI applications.
dry chargers are in the middle of the page

found a picture

That might stop the splashing, but if the filter is submerged than that thing can't stop your car from hydrolocking.

He's right, but still a good find. I wonder if it affects airflow at all.

of course it affects airflow. that thing is a waste of money. get the AEM thing if you are worried about it.

stick to the airbox or buy a bypass valve. good find though.

if you are going to get a bypass valve or filter cover for a cai, you might as well stick with the sri.

Ya I believe you lose power with a bypass valve.

You will not notice any difference in power with using one of these... they actually collect a lot of dirt and water from getting into the filter... but it won't stop it from getting hydro-locked like previously mentioned. These "pre-filters" are used in motocross for keeping out mud and water from the air filter... I have used them for a while and they work great.

ok for turbo application? Also, I don't understand how the bypass valve can work, if moistre is sucked into the intake it will more than likely be a high volume "mist" and fogg the engine til it's full of water, right? it will only work if the cone's fully submerged, but under heavy load don't you build like 15lbs vac? in the big of a diameter that's some heavy vacume, won't it suck water either way?

Air will take the path of least resistance so itll flow into the bypass valve instead of sucking water up the pipe from the filter if the filter is submerged. As far as "fogging" goes, someone else will have to answer. I don't know that one.
