Default P28 error codes, how do I read them?

I'm using a P28 ECU for the JDM D15B, if the ECU throws a code, how would I read it? The ECU doesnt have an indicator or anything.

I haven't finished the swap yet. The old engine isnt even in yet. I'm just trying to get as much info. as I can get. This way, I'm prepared. But the CEL is working. Does it flash x amount of times and all I have to do is count how many times, and that's the error code?

right, it will blink a certain amount of times something like this

1 fast blink then 2 fast ones count the blinks. Heres a chart you can use

you need to jump a pin on the ECU to ground.
I forget what pin it is.

If you don't then you CEL will just stay solid to alert you that your car is having issues.
You jump the pin to ground to let the ECU start sending the codes to the CEL light and let it blink. That's the way it works on the OBD1. The OBD0 ECU's have the clear window on the top of the ECU that you just look at and count the flashes. That's non-existant on the OBD1.
