kenji chipped p28 anybody still have and idle problems.. dyno numbers with i/e/h please..
i did a search for kenji chipped p28's and found that people were having problems with their idle at cold start ups. im very interested in buying this whole setup but im curious if anybody is still experiencing problems. i want to get this ecu without any problems.. any cel codes being thrown.. would i experience good power with the mods that i have: aem cai, t1r test pipe, t1r catback exhaust, jdm header? appoximately how much whp??
You're going to run into problems when you're plugging in an OBD1 ECU into an OBD2 car. There are workarounds to the whole cold start issue and it should be posted in the archives somewhere (hell, I think I mentioned a fix or two).
I'm definitely not going to promise any solid numbers since it's all car dependent. We could have the exact same mods but your numbers might be different than mine.
Yes, my car made decent power via butt dyno after trying out kenjis ECU. My car made more power after I had the car tuned by Yack @ P1. To get the most out of it, you're still going to need a piggyback computer like a VAFC to tune it to your needs.

when i pluged in my kenji i had idle problems also...i hooked it up to a wideband and found out that at idle it was running really lean...17.0...16.5 so i richened it out a lil bit with the vafc and it idles perfect now
My 98 R worked fine with Kenji's P28. No idling problems and felt reasonable gains on the butt dyno.
Go for it

The motor is a '00 JDM ITR with Skunk2 Stage 1 cams + boltons. Details of the motor can be found at:

Following is my baseline run with a Kenji chipped p28 and using an APC intake with K and N filter. 184.6/125.8

Great ecu, but in very cold temps (20 or lower) mine would have rough starts. If i didnt allow the car to warm up properly for about 5-10 minutes, it would stall. Starting after that was even more difficult.
