Default Took the EP to the track

Well I finally took the EP to the track. I wanted to test out some of the little things I had done. I love the TYPE-S conversion/brakes along with Cobalt Friction GT-R pads F/R. I also love the Mugen Sport Suspension. I dedcided to put my TYPE-R 16" JDM wheels and tires on it. With the 50 offset, the wheels are in a little to my liking, but didn't rub. And the 215-45 series just looks too small on the car. Next time if I do track the car again, 17" with 225-45 AZENIS will go on it.

Now the track! I was fine up until turn 6 in the carousel. I hit fuel cut. It was abour 4K RPM's in the turn when this happened. I then pitted in and reset the ECU. Went out again, same thing, same place. Now, I've never known anyone to have this problem in a EP or RSX, so I'm confussed.

Thanks to BH Race Photo's for the cool pic he got of me driving. I actually got the flu bad that night so I missed Sunday, since I was going to bring the TYPE-R out which was ready to go.

Thanks,
Victor

i hit the fuel cut also, it doesnt pass 4 grand right? ecu code said something about the oil swishing to one side of the pan and the vtec solenoid not picking up oil.

I was about to say the same thing. I've heard of several cases where guys are driving hard and in a turn, they'll hit fuel cut/limp mode. Might want to check/add oil if you haven't already.

BTW: Cool pic!

The code it gave him was a fuel code, not an oil code, which makes it a bit more odd.

sounds like vtec limp mode not fuel cutoff...

my 225/45-17 azenis rub and knock out the negative camber on hard full lock turns...

nice picture!

check the oil, low oil will shut off VTEC and limit you to 4000 rpm. I have hit that once, and had to add 2 quarts to bring it to the upper "hole." Needless to say, that i have been moitoring my oil religiously since.

Damn Victor, that sucks about missing Sunday, and about the fuel cut problems.

Fuel cut problems aside, did you get enough time to get a feel for the mugens on course? If so, what did you think of em?

I was running a half a tank of gas too. Oil was fine. It only did it in the hardest turn on the course, both times.

Comparing the R to the EP, well the EP is my daily driver, I love it. It's no R though!! The R stock is everything you could imagine on track. No need to even modify it! I even found myself driving the track like I drive it with the R. I know where to shift driving the R and was doing the same thing in the EP, so I hit the rev limiter many times, lol. I think a Hondata would be a nice first mod here.

Now for the Mugen suspension, it was good on track. It's not for the hard core track guys though. but it did it's job nicely for me. Just wish I had more time cause I was about to roll some aaaRRRzzz!!!

Thanks,
Victor

hmm I never had that problem in my dc5 at either the glen or limerock... you might want to think about a baffled oil pan

this was a fuel problem, not oil.

Only thing I can think of is oil starvation. You could have the correct amount of oil in the car but somehow are starving the pickup in turn 6. Maybe Yack would know something about this since I think he's had his on track a few times. There is also at least one West Coast racer with an EP3 as well that you might be able to hunt down.

Nice pic, truely is surprising how the EPs handle on the track.

BTW- Im running 225-45-17 Azenis and with the right ride height, +42 offset, -1.5 camber, no rubbing here
