so. i got my emissions test today, failed it. damn. here is a pic of the sheet....
(94 gsr)

failed...
pcv system
thermostatic air cleaner
oxygen sensor
it seemed to be a visual inspection that failed them cuz i passed all the tests
im guessing the thermostatic air cleaner failed cuz i have a AEM cold air pipe and the filter is pretty much hidden, and its not a stock one? i've never heard the term "thermostatic air cleaner" before. although i had a 93 probe with a cold air pipe (filter visible) that passed 2 months ago
pcv.. would that be due to the breather filter on my valve cover or the actual pcv valve?
he also mentioned that i dont have a oxygen sensor on my header (dc sports 4-2-1) but as i'm lookin thru the 94 gsr manual it pretty much doesnt seem to have one on the stock manifold either!
also.. if any of ya know more of how the number systems work for the emissions test.. how good are my readings?

yeah i dunno, the only sensor in the exhaust system is on the front side of the cat.
i am beginning to think the guy is a dumb f*ck.

I will guarantee you have an O2 sensor, otherwise your car would run like **** unless you had a simulator. In milwaukee, you can have an air intake as long as you pass the test it is legal, the PVC I dont know

yeah, there is the sensor on the cat, thats the only one in the exhaust that i saw in the manual, regardless of what manifold is on.
i think i am gonna take it to a different test station and have it retested if i can. (after i take the valve cover breather filter off and put a hose to the intake
) because i dont see why if the car passes all the tests there should even be an issue, stupid emissions. he didnt even do a test on the pcv valve itself (squeezin the hose to make the sound or whatever) that inspector was a faggit! lol

I have mine registerd in oshkosh. No need to worry about it then.
Scott, did you check if you were throwing any codes before you went? It could be that your O2 sensor is actually bad.. Im assuming your pcv issues are because its not actually hooked up. also pull the pcv valve out and shake it. IF it rattles its ok. if not get a new one. there like 4 bucks. I have no clue as to the theromstatic air cleaner.. is that something like blinker fluid?

if the o2 sensor was bad, wouldnt i be thowing a CEL? and they didnt hook anything up for diagnostics or anything that i could see, he basically said i failed the o2 sensor part because i didnt have one on the header. which there normally isnt one there anyways.
how hard is it to get at the pcv valve? i didnt have too much time this morning to look around indepth before work. it was kinda hard to tell by the pic in the honda manual.
and how'd ya get registered in oshkosh? did ya just tell them you live there?

It might not be throwing a CEL. go to autozone or whatever and ask them to scan your codes..
The Pcv valve on my 98 gsr is right below the intake manifold. its a round "L" shaped piece, not too hard to get at. id assume its in the same spot for your car.
I might be wrong but dont OBD1 cars only have 1 o2 sensor? tell the guy to go suck a ****.
How did i register it in oshkosh? When renewing your plates (or just go to the dmv , they dont care) theres a llittle box that says Vehilce kept in county of, then city of. just pick a county and city without emisions testing. dosent change your actual address, just tells them its "stored" in another county.

i failed emissions 2 weehs ago. i had to get a temporary plate cause i waited until the last minute to get the test done. hopefully i can pass next week if i get the car fixed.

no, i think i know what im gonna do. after they move my car outta the way of the fan, i'll give him a karate kick to the sack and push him infront of the big fan thing.... then i'll turn it on and **** into it!
LOL
LOL
my car depletes the ozone layer and they will never know. Although I often wonder if cops can see the county you listed the vehicle is kept in when they run my plates...
Take it to a different smog tech. If your pieces are all in place and you can blow fine on the sniffer then there shouldn't be a problem. I have actually had to tell a smog tech where my cat was.
