Take it from me, unnecessary weight removal is one thing. But leave the seats and all that stuff in, you will love having a functional car than one you can't carry people or any of your crap in. I love my new car, 4 doors and a hatchback, can't beat that.

Are you looking for free weight reduction? I went in and trimmed about 3/8 of and inch off of all the metal in the rear and doors of the car, pulled up carpet and removed sound deadener, removed useless heat sheilds, sanded off all forging/stamping marks off of motor and suspension parts while they were out. I will soon be replacing the hatch and quarter glasses with lexan.Buy aluminum parts where applicable. Carbon fiber hood. I also down graded my system to just a single 8" sub and 5 channel amp. All together i've dumped nearly 200 pds.(Thats including losing the a/c)

If cost isn't an issue, strip your car and have it dipped.

complete disassembly the car and repalce all fasteners (bolts, nuts others) with titanium pieces (often done in roadrace bikes).

replace the exhaust with a titanium one,

remove all seats so your GF has no place to sit (make sure see isn't OK with just laying down on the floorboard or this may not acheive the recsults you're looking for.

I was thinking about relacing all the big nuts and bolts on my hatch. I still looking for a company. I found several but titanium is damn expensive, the aluminum didn't seem that bad though.
