Default jdm b16a starts and then stalls

car: 90 crx with jdm b16a 1st gen and PR3 ECU.

Problem: about once every 3 or 4 weeks i'll go to start the car and it will start right up and then cut out. I can start it again but it stalls. I pull the hazard fuse to reset the ECU wait a bit and start the car right up and its fine for another 4 weeks or so until it happens again.

It doesn't throw any codes either when this happens. If it didn't start up again i would think it was the fuel pump but since it starts and runs fine after resetting the ecu it doesn't make much sense that it would be the fuel pump.

Any ideas?

sounds like main relay make sure you hear the fuel pump each time u start it, if you dont hear that second click or the fuel pump turn back to off and ACC again until u hear it.

id put money on the main relay also. had the same issue my self... lil more frequent then you, but same idea...

listen each time when you turn the key to the ON position (when the CEL come on for a few seconds) for the fuel pump. when the light goes off there should be a light click from the main relay (under the driverside of the dash right near the door)

if theres no click your not gettin fuel and thats causing it to stall out

exactly. reason why it starts first time and dies quickly is the fuel pressure is still there from the previous "running" of the car. Once the pressure drops (doesnt take long w/ no pump working and a running motor) it runs out of fuel and stalls.

Thanks, guys from the first post i did some more checking...

Luckily i can all ready solder and have al lthe stuff at home so i'll pop out the main relay and have a look at the joints. The bad thing is it happens so infrequently its tough to troubleshoot!!!
