i've been doing some research lately and found that i can get a B18c IT-R For 4100 full swap but also found an H22a Full swap for 2100 some advantages and disadvantages are obvious like the type R is a 99+ motor ans pushes about 210HP but its a hell of alot of money then you got the H22a its 2000 dollars cheaper and pushes only 5 horse less my question is other than horsepower, price, and age of the motor what are the other differences and what should i go with
H22 is a little bit more complicated to swap but can still be done easily if you know what you are doing. Plus, I didnt feel comfortable swapping a H22 in my home garage thats why I chose a B series instead. Ive been in a situation like that before and I decided to purchase an jdm B18c type R instead for my civic(still in the process of swapping, little low in cash). Ive seen video of Honda Best Motoring from Japan with all civic R, integra R, nsx R and seems like all 96 type R engines is fully hand place and hand torque, slightly ported inside the head versus to production engines. Other reason I chose the R over the H22 was, My buddy first had a 00 prelude SH, I tested his car and felt like a GSR if not even slower then my GSR. He then sold his lude and purchase a 01 usdm Acura Integra type R and I test drove it and felt in love with it. Suspension, interior, to power gets 2
We then took it for some autocross and handles so well I couldnt believe it, after that we then took his type R to the track at rockingham and with a comptech filter and nitto drag radial we made best 14.1 and consistant 14.3-4's all day while buddies of mine had 92-95 hatches with b18c1 pulling the same times. Best in his class without a doubt. I think you should still stick with a Type R if you got the extra cash. If not look into getting a b18c1 instead.
