Default b18c1 with usdm type r piston and rods..... Runs like crap

94 gsr b18c1 bottom built with p73 piston and p73 rods, the head is still stock with 96 jdm type r cams with aem sprockets , JDM DC type r header... fuel is set at 48.. chipped ecu v-tec kicks in at a 5800 rpm....im still getting pull left and right by stock Gsr. It seems like there's no top end at all , when v-tech kicks it feels pulls pretty hard, but when at low rpm it sucks.. i tryed setting both cams at 2 degrees,
im still not getting no top end...any advice will help

First of all if you're messing with the cam timing make sure you have it set correctly.. Set them both to 0 if you dont have access to a dyno.. They are factory cams so it wont make much of a difference...

Did you seat the rings correctly? Do a compression test and check it out..

Im guessing its either your timing or your ecu tuning.. take it to a dyno and let them make you a program for your setup if you can..

One more thing.. Do you have top end power or not? You're saying it pulls when VTEC kicks in but then you're also saying you have no top end..

Do you still have the GSR manifold?? Are the secondaries opening? If they are staying closed somehow (constant 12v) you will lose noticable power up top..

You have to be more specific when you post threads like this.. You need more details so someone over the internet can even try to figure out whats going on..

I've got the same setup as you minus the rods, but with 01 R cams and vlave springs. I have no camgears, just running stock gsr's. I seem to have a definite increase in low and top end, only thing is that my ecu isn't programmed for the R cams, so when the secondaries open, it pours out gas from the exhaust, needs a tuning. I would say that you need to go to a performance shop with a dyno so they can properly set up the car. You tried it yourself and before you F something up, let a real pro handle it, this way...if they break something it's their fault..peace

dude, i 100% sure it's your chipped ecu man. those things are junk...i don't care who chipped it for you or what program it is. you're probably running lean in some areas and rich in others, and your timing is probably all out of wack with that chip. you have to get something that is specifically made for your setup and specs. you're much better off sticking with a STOCK ECU AND VAFC.

my timming is set back at stock and the stock ecu back in .. still runs like crap.. im thinking the jdm dc type r header is to big not enough back pressure... any body ***** trade their jdm type r header with heatshield for my dc let me know

trading headers wont make a difference. jdm dc is 2.5 and jdm itr is 2.5 at the collector. i would check wiring, and most likely its the ecu edit you changed back. it could be compression lost. did you break in the motor after you installed the pistons and rods?

the motor has broken in about 3000 miles..jdm type r header has the some bored as the head.. the dc type r piping on the head is bigger..
did compression check runs about 170 each cylinder... wiring is fine, the motor is in a gsr body too.. ...

oh shesh, u got a hard time against stock GSR with that setup man...dann u better ask around for a good mechanic man...i go with one of the guy above with ECU problem, adjustable cam gears with spoketed usually should go with aftermarket camshafts, adjusting degree with stock camshafts is a bad idea, i suggest u should reconsider with ZERO degree again..

dont even think about putting gsr ECU back in,,,ur vtek may not work as hard it it did,

if possible, get a new good ECU, then DYNO ur dann car, cuz with that setup i think u can hit mid-low 13s? after dyno man...stock GSR's should look at ur tail lights every run

peace, wish you best
