Why do some people choose the hot air intake vs. the cold setup...knowing that the cold will get more results...?

I've heard that short-ram (what you call hot-air) are better on top end, once the car is really moving, because the air rushing into the engine bay is pretty chilly already and it has less distance to travel than in a CAI like AEM or Comptech.

Comptech Ice box has approximately the same length of intake tubing as stock...it gets its cold air by plumbing the "resonator" to collect air (funnelling ram air) from the front of the car.

I have iceman ... when I had DC sports short air intake...I lost to RSX type-S. I found out that DC one is worse than stock one. So I bought iceman ..I won.

I don't know about top end is better with short intake but...I think our engine gets very hot if we race couple times whatever...and it will be very hot under the hood...I guess...

or short air intake has better response...I'm not really sure about all this but a...my car got faster after installing iceman which is CAI system.

It was my impression that cold air is always better. When they say that top end might be helped out with a short ram, it's my guess that once you are going fast, the air under the hood cools down, and because there is less tubing to pass through on the short ram, it flows better, just a guess though.

AEM is good, but when ur revving pass 8k , short ram will outperform it
due to the shorter distance...velocity is way faster then...

The colder the air the better it is for the engine.
