how many miles do you change the manual transmission fluid....what do you guys recommend?
Here are some facts on 3 ITR's:
1. Changed tranny fluid of Black R's ITR w/ ~8,000 miles. No metal debris found in the fluid. Fluid wasn't dirty at all. (Black R's car is always driven hard and autoX-ed.)
2. Changed tranny fluid of pyromaster's ITR w/ ~10,000 (?) miles. No metal debris and fluid is in good condition. (pyromaster's car has seen numerous race tracks.)
3. After seeing the results, needless to say that my ITR w/ 7,000 miles did not receive a tranny fluid change. (mine is a daily driver... so maybe I'll have more metal crap, who knows.)
HOWEVER, if you grind your gear a lot and you have 30 minutes of free time + extra $10 in you pocket, go for it. I'm planning to change mine out as soon as the weather warms back up in the spring... when I should have around 12,000 miles.

you ever check out the big magnet in the bottom of the tranny case?
I do oil and MTF change every 3000 miles. Fuel filter and pcv valve every 6000 miles. Yeah yeah... "unnecessary maintenance".
Save it. I work for Acura. My chit is cheap.

Fresh MTF every other oil change (6k).
Like Mike K said, I am **** as well. Mobil 1 10w-30 & Honda MTF...yummy

actually jacknob.. i meant what was your opinion of my tranny internals at 70k miles.
No, they were in good shape, just a wittle wear.

Every 30K miles or 24 months, whichever comes first.
How do you change the MTF? Does anyone have a how to?
If you're going to do your own work on your car, it's essential.

i just changed mine at 25,000 miles.. i have been changing mine every year since i had my first car which was an accord. Its just a mental thing knowing you 've got fresh fluid in there every year...

I know where to drain it but where do you add the fluid?

Changed mine at 9000 miles cause was having tranny issues; feels good as new now!
There is an easier way to change your tranny fluid. Get a very long funnel or a hose to attach whatever funnel you have. Remove the intake hose (to get access to the fill plug) and you should be able to fill the tranny fluid from above the engine bay. Simple and a much quicker way than using the pump.

its on the side.. you can use a fluid pump thing you buy cat the auto store .. .. if you've gots time i can show you during the weekend dennis...or better yet you can do it in my garage..
