stock b18c1 is running 4x richer than normal. Please Help
Whats up. Im trying to pass smog and my HCs and COs are like 4 times the leagal limit. My motor is completely stock. I just bought a new NTK (NGK) OEM oxygen sensor and a cat. What else could it be? Is there any way I can test my ecu or O2 sensor to see if theyre working/ hooked up right? Please Help. My registration is past due and this is my only car.
change your wires/plugs, change cap+rotor, do an oil change, and drive around for an hour before you do the test. what year is the b18c1?
I did all that except drive around for an hour befor the test. The motor is 98 but I have it hooked up to a P72 ecu so Im gonna be registering it as a 95. What else could it be? Anyone know a way I can check the wiring? How would I know if the ECU is working properly let alone the O2 sensor?
the p72 ecu is the one that's supposed to be with that motor. if it's an obd2 ecu, it'll throw a code if your o2 sensor isn't working correctly. are you throwing any codes?

did you register the car with different engine or with stock 95 d15 engine?
your car is a civic man
the d15 in ur HB is SOHC, produced much lesser smog than the GSR
each car have a specific engine that have a certain smog limit on it...if u reported your car for example: HP 95, the shop will report it as HP95 with the d15 engine, and the d15 engine, has it own limit for smog
cuz you swapped the old engine out and put in the GSR, and the GSR smog level is much higher, no wonder you dont pass
hehe...you better get a hook up man...cost more money, but hey overdue cost alotmore man...

Dude, when you want to pass smog legit with a motor swap you have to take it to a referee. Of coarse they know is an integra motor. The problem is that Im having trouble passing for some reason. I can get it passed ileagally if I want but I'd rather have my car done legit so I can register it as a GSR integra. This way I can get full coverage insurance and so if my **** gets jacked then Im not screwed. Civic/ Integras are the #1 broken into/stolen cars in the Bay Area.
It has thrown a code #1 in the past for primary O2 but not recently. Something is causing my car to run extremely rich and I think it has to do with the wiring of a 98 motor with an OBD1 ecu. Anyone who knows how to convert and OBD2 motor to OBD1 properly PLEASE POST SOMETHING THAT CAN HELP. I'd like to beable to check the O2 sensor wiring.
