Default HELP! Had problems starting after being shut down.

Ok... Here's the story.

I was driving for about 20min when I got to my destination I pulled into a spot, turned the car off, sat in the car for about 15 seconds then noticed a better spot.

So then I tried to turn the car BACK ON to move to the better parking spot... It turned on, went to 1000 RPM then died. I tried again... and the same thing happened. I Tried 2 more times and it wouldnt even turn on after holding the key in for 5 seconds each time.

So then I waited about 20 seconds and tried again... it started, so I kept giving it some gas and pulled off... and after that it drove fine.

This has happened 2 times before, maybe 3 weeks apart each time. I'm not sure if it was just a coincidence that every time it happened it was pretty hot outside. It only happens when I tried to turn the car back on after just being shut off.

Any ideas?

Let me guess...once you let the car cool down it starts right up?....

Sounds like your main relay is going bad...it's a common prob on hondas...I actually had the same prob. on my coupe last summer. What happens is the solders?(sp) on the main relay board go bad and don't make a good connection. This is what keeps your car from starting...once cooled down, it starts right up.

I know there are probably how to's on here to repair the relays, but if you're lazy like me just go to a junkyard and pick one up, or buy one on here...if ya purchase new though get ready for a $$$$ hit...they're not cheap.....Good Luck.....

it could also be the your distributor is over heating ...i was once told also a bad connection on the engien temp sensor "coolant" also does this...cuz this was happending on my crx b4 but once i swaped my motor to a b16 it was just fine... try driving around with some1 elses distributor that is in good condition..

Is there any way I could check to be 100% sure it's the relay? This doesnt ALWAYS happen. Yesteday was the 3rd time since I got the car maybe in 3 months.

BLEH! I had to do some digging for that. If you do find out its the main relay, you might want to try that first. You could mess it up doing that, but hey your already going to have to buy one if that is it.

Yeah, I've had the same problem. (Along with others) I'm going to check mine and see if that's causing the problem.

I have the same problem now and its my ignitor in the distributor is going out. Check to see if your throwing any codes (even if the CEL isnt on still try to pull codes)

If you get 15 theres your problem.

But you have to check it after it does this. I dont think you could just go outside right now and check it though.

Now that you mention it Luserkid...

My last car was doing the same thing a few months before the distributor went out... but then again I had to replace the main relay shortly after.
