Default honda fluids or other brands?

I got the helms manual and need to do a bunch of maintence for it. I need to replace all the fluids basically and plan on doing it by myself w/ the manual and friend's tools. It says I should use Genuine Honda DOT3 or Genuine Honda Manual tranny fluid etc. Also with Honda's white lithiem grease etc. I can get 5w-30, regular DOT3 but what is the difference? What would you suggest?

and probly anything else out there.

brake fluid,
any dot3 will do,
as far as grease,
theres lotsa grease you can use.
i've never seen honda mention white lithium in the service manual,
only moybdenum disulfide,

i just use valvolines stuff..
but you can buy white lithium grease too,
again.. dont need to be honda brand.

good things to use made by honda would be an oil filter..
but there are good aftermarket oil filters.

hondas mtf is actually really good, but synchromesh is better.

My brother works at a hardware store so I can get all the tools I need (most of them) I do need a jack, I am borrowing someone's right now. (3 tons) It crushed my trunk when I put it in, lol. (I took out my jack) Now I can't lift the cardboard type cover up so I can put my spare back in so that won't happen again. haha. I am glad it is not required to use honda brands because I can get almost everything free if it is not.

Go to your phone book, look under Autos and look for your local Honda dealer. It isn't Rocket Science. Honda MTF is ok, but if you're thinking on doing any sort of quick shifts or thinking on bashing on your tranny, get the GM Synchromesh. The Honda MTF is about $5 a quart where the GM stuff (is bought at a local GM dealer) is about $10 a quart.
