Default over reved the zc.

so i was beating up the car tonite, and coming out of a corner, i mised the 3-4 shift. My foot wasnt as fast as my hand and i saw the needle hit 8500. i tve got a reprogramed ecu and i thought the rev limit was 8 but now im not so shure. This is with my dohc zc. i never take it past ~7200, so naturally im a little concerned. is there a way of finding out if i damaged anything without removing the head. i know i could do a compression test. anything else?its going to getr a turbo this week so im praying nothings wrong it seemed to run and idle/rev fine afterwards.
thanks
luke

You can listen to hear any tapping noises coming from the head... that would indicate a bent valve and a poor idle to

My buddy has a DOHC ZC with a custom ECU made himself from TurboEdit without a rev limiter and he regularly shifts @ 8K. No problems yet.

Wow that makes me kinda sad

Anyone that's smart enough to use turboedit should know better than to remove a rev limiter completely, and the car isn't making power at 8k anymore anyways

The stock tachs are off. A stock reading of 8500rpm is probably closer to 8000, or just under it.

Pull the valve cover off and check the valve clearence. If one or more valves is extremely loose chances are it is bent. BTW, anyone know the stock redline on the DOHC ZC?

We both (me and him) know this, but he has 2 more motors in his shed, it's just a matter of time til it blows up so he doesn't really care...must be nice, huh?

When I was 16 I took a 00 Prelude out for a test drive form a lot, brother was gonna buy it and he said I should test it out

I rung out 1-3 but when I went to shift to 4th, I pulled towards me and down lol, doen to second @ like 90 = F1 rev

Needless to say I just pushed the clutch in and pulled over, got in the passenger seat and listenned to 20 min of laughing at me

Never done it in the past 2 years though, was a **** scarer though
