Best transmission fluid?
I've heard good things about the GM syncromesh. Honestly though, if you search in the archived post in the ITR forum under "Tranny fluid" you will find about 50 or so post about this.
I got word of mouth directly from Motul, the FF comp tranny oil is for clutch type LSD's (Kaaz, Mugen, Cusco, etc.) the Gear300 is for normal trannies and those that have a helical type LSD because the helical does not need friction modifiers.
On another note the FF Comp 75W-90 fluid is actually produced in Malaysia and the Gear300 in France with most of the other line of Motul products.

I've never heard of this. I thought there was only one type of Honda MTF...?

It's available in Europe. I saw it written on the barrel at the Honda dealer. I was suprised too. It's just an improved Honda MTF.
use only the full synthetic gm syncromesh or chrysler equilvalent. i repeat this is a NEW syncromesh fluid. btw, its used in viper manual transmissions.
there are 3 gm syncromesh fluids and this is the best. its is a full synthetic unlike the regular syncromesh and the friction modified syncromesh. costs $20 at the dealership or $11.50 at gm parts direct.
GM Part # 12346190
Chrysler Part #4637579

How much are synchros?
I have no problem paying $12/qt for the Motul fluid or the money on synthetic oil (changing every other track weekend). I do not want to blow up either motor or gearbox.

Yes, but what kind of oil... never mind.

so what your saying is use Gear 300 and not FF Comp for my R? I don't track/race my R but Honda MTF is freakin shear happy and its driving me nuts!!! Is there a daily driver formula that's a 100% synthetic and compatible with the R tranny???

got rid of my 3rd gear grind

I bought some GM syncromesh friction modified, but before I could put it in, I read some posts here that indicated it might cause long term damage.
Most everyone says it will get rid of the grinds. What seems to be in question is whether it will be good in the long run.
I changed fluid with Honda MTL and thoroughly drained (3+ hours), and my 5th grind went away. The fluid that came out was clean, but prolly still had 30K on it, knowing the former owner.
