Default Ok, this is annoying, please help (Oil level)

Alright, I change my oil every 2000 miles because my uncle owns a tire shop. With my '01 GS-R, I put 4 quarts of oil in after I drain it. When I check the oil after I change it, it's at the 2nd mark on the oil stick, it looks A-OK. After a day or so of driving, I start my car in the morning. After it's warmed up, I check the dip stick and the oil is already a quart low. Ok...so I let it cool down, and it still shows as a quart low. So I put more oil in, and after a whole night of it sitting there it shows as normal(and usually over, from whatever I put in extra the previous day) when I check the next morning. This isn't the first time it's happened, and it's getting really annoying because when I ask my uncle he has no idea, and he's been doing this **** for many years.

I'm sorry if this is a really stupid question, and that's normal, but I'd just like some confirmation so I know if my car is ok or not. Where is that oil going for so few hours? It's really been bothering me, so please someone answer and respond to my question if they're able.

Thanks for your time in advance.

A B series takes about 4.5 quarts of oil. You put in 4. After you change your oil and filter, the filter is empty and will stay empty until oil is pumped into it. This is why it looked as if you were a quart low after you had run your car. When you put more oil in the car, the level didnt drop the next morning because the filter will always have oil in it until you change it. So when you added more oil you actually filled it to the normal level...make sense?

No oil burning, no leaks, notta. What happens is, I put 4 quarts in after the oil change and filter. The next day, when I start up my car, it will show as 3/4th's a quart low, not exactly a whole quart. So then I put more oil in, and after the car cools down, it shows as normal. It doesn't burn any after that, so maybe it's oil going into the filter? I wasn't sure, which is why I asked.

To clarify, after I put more oil in when it looks like it's low, it shows as over, like I've lost no oil at all.

How much oil does an oil filter hold exactly?

And what's the exact amount of oil for a '01 gs-r vtec motor?

are you using can quarts or from the a oil gun?

4.5 is what it needs
and the oil filter will hold bout a 1/4 of a quart

Oil gun.

4.5 Quarts, thanks.

I didn't know the oil filter held 1/4th of a quart either, that explains nearly all my troubles. Thanks for the help H-T.

I was starting to worry that my Integra was starting to mess up even though I change the oil so often and take very good care of it. Sorry about the newbie oil question too, something I should know by now I suppose.

Thanks again.

so start at
4.3 stop start car shut off and check level
if missing some top off...
