Default To rebuild or not to rebuild?

Well as many of you know the car was recovered with most of the parts. It would take 3-5000 to put it back to a point where i can race it.

The motor needs to be put in, new engine harness wiring, new ecu wiring, new ignition. The front brakes, knuckles, axles and suspension need to be replaced.

After I do all that the car would be ready to race again. The car would no longer be a street car and I would just haul it to track events to avoid paying insurance.

I mean it will never feel the same now that these ******* violated it, but I don't think that I can give up racing for the next year and a half.

All of the people that have had their car stolen and recovered please chime in and give me the reasons why you either chose to build it up again, or to let someone else buy it and have fun with it.

My ITR was not stolen, but my Supra was. After a 6 mos to a year, and the work to fix it, I doubt you'll remember the violation, and just love the feeling of driving it. I know it really hurts a lot now, but time has a way of dulling the pain and making you remember only the good times.

It won't even have to be a track only car with the plethora of R parts available online for cheap. I'd say rebuild it if you love driving an R.

If you really need the cash and don't have the time, maybe consider the sale. The work you list is pretty easy tho. If you're considering a track car, you obviously have something else to drive, and the insurance payback to deal with having it around until you can get it fixed. You can always put the running gear back, insure it, and still drive and/or autox it occasionally to get seat time, without everything done. If you part it instead of selling it outright, you'll be investing lots of time anyway, so why not put the time to good use?

Then, if it get's stolen again, your insurance (or homeonwners) will cover it, and you can cash out.

My car literally burned down to the ground. I picked up a shell and will build it. It's fun. It's affordable. I say rebuild it.

i also agree on rebuilding. now you have almost a blank slate to work with...especially with the motor out of the car, you can do almost ANYTHING with alot less headache and hassle.

is the transmission still there? either way you have a GREAT car and would be a waste of your time to just throw it away ken. again, as someone else wrote, R parts/other parts are really a dime a dozen. there is just so much out there that you could explore with the R....just think of the possibilities.

either way if you need any help, just let me know or drop me a line.

Thanks for the advice guys. I will rebuild it in time. Can anyone say full roll cage and motor build up?

My tranny is there, the motor is literally untouched by the thieves. Everything on the motor was done clean because they wanted to sell it intact.

I think it's time for a new FD, clutch, flywheel.

They took my front brakes so I guess I might as well get the calipers i always wanted.

i don't think that insurance will cover anything unless he claims the whole car as a loss...bill the damn parents!

If you decide not to rebuild it sell it to me because i will rebuild it.. So many have been lost that they are hard to find and as long as there is a shell i would start again...
I hope you do rebuild her...
