Found metal in a new filter.
I was changing the oil on my sister's suby and when I went to lube the o-ring on the filter, I used a clean rag instead of my finger because my hands were dirty. After I wiped the o-ring with the rag, I noticed metal shreads on the rag. I looked closer and I saw a lot of them.
The metal seemed to be residue from the machining process. THis was a bosch filter.
I guess I was just wondering if the oil if filtered after it reaches the face or tthe o-ring area.

I've seen metal shavings in oil filters from time to time. They're usually residual metal left from cutting the threads. They're usually cleaned off at the factory, but a little is usually left behind. Just inspect your filters before putting them on. You can usually just wipe it away. Or just run a magnet around the threads before using the filter.
