Default Skunk2 stage 1 or stage 2?

I am looking into a set of cams for my JDM B18C-R engine. I am leaning towards a set of Skunk2 cams. I was just looking for some opinions on these cams and how well they have performed for people?

Current modifications: Comptech IceBox, full Hytech exhaust system, Skunk2 cams gears (uninstalled).

Do you suggest going with Stage 1 or Stage 2 of the cams?

Specs for each stage:
SKUNK 2 STAGE I SPECS:
INTAKE: DURATION @ 1mm 252º LIFT: 0.456"(11.5mm)
EXHAUST: DURATION @ 1mm 249º LIFT: 0.426"(10.8mm)

VAVLE SETTINGS
Lash the valves to stock settings on a cold motor
INTAKE: 0.007in.
EXHAUST: 0.008in.

SKUNK2 STAGE II SPECS:
INTAKE: DURATION @1mm 266º LIFT @ 0" lash: 0.485(12.3mm)
OPENING @1mm: 37º BTDC
CLOSING @1mm: 49º ABDC

EXHAUST: DURATION @1mm 262º LIFT @ 0" lash: 0.466(11.8mm)
OPENING @1mm: 61º BTDC
CLOSING @1mm: 21º ABDC

VAVLE SETTINGS
Lash the valves to stock settings on a cold motor
INTAKE: 0.007in.
EXHAUST: 0.008in.

The Stage 2 cams suggest a valve spring and retainers upgrade, is it necessary?

I also have an Apexi VAFC and plan on tuning my entire setup with the cams installed in order to get the most from the setup.

Any other suggestions or comments welcome.

i would go for stage 1 without upgrade springs and retainers.
stage2 gains couple hp over stage1 but they are not worth it. with s2, you have to remove the head which more work for you and pay more $$$ for springs and retainers. s1 is more daily driven and easy to install and tune.

Yeah, j00 gotta know what j00 plan on doing with the car first bro If your gonna race it then go with the Skunk 2 Stage 2's they make more HP and the Valve Springs and Retainers you can get at a fraction of the cost that Skunk 2 is charging for them, http://www.OMNIPOWERUSA.com has a set for like $100+ shipped 'n that's not bad at all If you plan on using this car for everyday driving then please stray away fdrom the Stage 3's, the compression will be so up there that gas and engine life will be shortened So if you jus want a little power but don't plan on racing much, then Stage 1's, if you want Race power while still daily drivable then Stage 2's

BUT actually you should just keep the stockers in there, the jdm itr cms are wicked enough.
spend your money on Hondata and dyno tuning, then on trackschools and tires!

The car is raced once in a while and daily driven. I was leaning more towards the Stage 1 cams at the beginning, but I just wanted to know how much harsher the Stage 2 cams were for daily driving and what not.

We would keep the ITR cams, but we are removing them and putting them in a B18C1 that is in my CRX.

We do plan on getting rid of the Apexi VAFC soon, probably go into the CRX, and then going with Hondata when it is time to dyno tune.

So it looks like we're going to go with the Skunk2 Stage 1 cams. With the full setup and after dyno tuning, we are hoping on getting up in the 190-200 whp range.

in running the stage 2's wich i plan on doing. how much higher should we b18c guys raise our compression? or do we need to at all? i've read that i should runn minimum 11.5 for the stage 2's in order for them to run proper.
