Default balance shaft seal w/ timing belt

Would I have to drain the oil before installing a new balance shaft seal? Is it extremely necessary to install a new one when changing the timing belt? Thanks.

you do not have to drain oil, but on a 94,I would change the seal and install a retainer that you can get at the dealer.

There is a retainer already there but isn't that the seal that if it pops out, you lose all your oil in 30 seconds? I saw that at http://www.cybertrails.com/~pu....html
