Default Car bogging down

I have a 99 ls, and I started it up today and it jumped to 4000rpm for about 20 seconds then went down to normal. And when I'm driving, it bogs down whenever I push the gas hard. It just seems to not want to pick up the speed. I just changed my oil and plugs, and checked the fluids. I can't figure out what's wrong. And then my maintenance light just came on today for no reason. Anybody ever had this problem. Any help would be great, thanks.

I have a 97 GSR with a similar problem, not all the time but when I gunn it in 1st, the car just dosen't wanna go anywhere, it kinda of gets bogged down like yours seems to do, and other times i'll be driving normal and it just starts heasitating like there's a clog in the fuel line or something, but the problem with mine is not the fule line, as I had that checked out, I replaced all the spark plugs & cap and rotor and plug wires, but that wasn't it, I then looked to the alternator for the possible problem. I consulted a local expert and he told me that it wasn't the alternator, but instead it could be that the catilytic converter might be cloged up thus bogging down the car, just yeasterday I got under there and pulled that sucker right out and sure enought it was the problem! now im just wating on my new one to come in something today or possibly tommorow so I can drive my teg again!! BTW im not saying that your problem is you cat, but I suggest that you take a look at it. Like I have seen some1 else here say, "always try the simple solutions first" (plugs, cap & rotor, plug wires, oil, fluids, alternator, batter, ect...) although a pain in the ***, but after trying "the simple solutions first" getting under you car and pulling you cat can be a pain in the *** but in my opinion its worth a look.

In my case I also need a new battery as well as a new catalytic converter.

with any bogging that my car ever had i refered to the fuel system. My car was bogging in a sort of different way from yours but it was the fuel filter.
