Default brakes cause idle to rise?

the other day I pumped the brakes a few times cause I though they were squeaking and I noticed my rpm's went up a little so when I go to the light I pumped them again and just with a few pumps the rpm's went up to 1500.. is this normal?? I have not had a car with abs, nor seen this on my old car... thanks

This is perfectly normal. The brake booster is allowing some air to enter the intake manifold when it uses vacuum. This results in an RPM rise.
