Default New to boards, and Car!!

Hello peoples,..

Well, after many many years of hearing all the crap talking from my friends, and recently wrecking my SRT-4, I broke down and bought a 200 Acura Integra GSR with a Turbo Set up. Got the car from a guy with 40k miles and the turbo kit already on it, mods list is pretty extensive. (will post later)

I just bought the car, and Im not too familiar with it. Any pointers I need to know? I am picking it up on Monday, and driving across country to get back to my home. The 3000 mile trip should give me time to test her out, and see if there are any engine, handling, or any other problems.

I have a thing for fast cars and drag strips on Thursdays... I destroyed my baby 3 weeks ago. Had my SRT-4 completely modded out, pushing well over 300whp and running mid 12's in the 1/4 mile. Im wondering if a GSR-T is capable of running 12's as well, and what kinda work it would take to get her there.

I am trying to learn everything about this car that I can. I am very enthusiastic about this teggy, and like I said, all my friends drive honda's so they are finally glad that i "came into the light".

I look forward to talking with some of you about the car. Since Im a newbie, and i cant post that many times during the day, feel free to email me at robertsmb@2mawcp.usmc.mil to talk about the cars or anythign I need to know.

Thanks.

I've seen boosted tegs break into the 12s. What kind of turbo set up does she have? Has it been tuned?

Sounds beautiful, besure to take some pictures.

Things you should know: the GSR's 1st gear syncho is a lil tough on downshifts if you're downshifting at high rpms. Double clutch or rev match if you want to get it into gear while rolling. Low speeds are not a problem. GSR's tranny is known for notchy shifting, just so you know and not freak out when you first shift. ummm the clutches are super soft compared to the srt-4 unless the guy upgraded the clutch.

since your'e driving cross country bring extra oil and check the level often... im pretty sure you already planned to do so.

Handling is crisp and nimble, you'll probably want to take a few corners hard just for fun.

You should consider getting a full 3in exhaust system, having that 3in downpipe go into a 2.5in system sounds kind of restrictive.

Most of all.... Have fun with her!

first off, welcome to h-t. a turbo gs-r is more than capable of 12 second passes. 11's are not too tough either. good luck with your cross country turbo trip.

I got pics, you can view them on my generic website here....

http://www.freewebs.com/robertsmb/index.htm

They teggy is a very very dark deep blueish purple color that ive really never seen before. Also, I only have 1 pic of the engine bay, and its from a slant. Its good enough to see that its turbo, but you cant really get into the engine and pick stuff apart. I will be updating the pics and such as soon as I actually get my hands on the car in 2 more days. Thanks for the feedback guys...

I think that paint scheme is called Dark Violet Pearl .. it looks hot when clayed and polished with some high quality wax. Keep us updated on the the trip.

I made a similar trip when I bought my Type R; Bakersfield to Maryland. It was a grueling trip, one that I wish I would have had a co-pilot on . Good luck with the trip, and definately check on that oil! Take it easy in the desert and the mountains, and open her up in the plains states

Wow, very nice. Looks like you picked up a nice car. You got the engine management as well.

My advice to you is to take the cross country drive a bit easy. Take a while to learn how the car feels and responds. Turbo Hondas are sometimes sketchy.

That's why I would never let anyone drive mine. If they floored it too long, something would go wrong, if they did something that the car didn't like, something would go wrong, etc. I knew everything about it, so I was the only one who would drive it.

But anyway.....nice car. You'll love it.
