Default 1996 Integra RS with GSR or Type-R motor?

Well, i'm looking at buying this 96 integra RS...i'm looking for one in general to buy in the $5000 range, preferably a manual transmission....but for that price the car's gonna have about 140k-180k miles on it, so i'd want to replace the engine and transmission. Now i heard a rumor that i could swap the stock engine for a gs-r or type-r engine...i'm just asking to see if this was just a rumor or it is really true, and if so, how much it would cost in parts and labor? Thanks guys!

You can swap just about any B series engine into that RS. For swap prices check http://www.passwordjdm.com and hmotorsonline.com

I'm not familiar with the CA location so I'm not going to know how much labor costs run there as well as reputable shops, but like posted above within those links you can find a suitable swap for your RS.

it would obviously add performance, but what all would i have to switch out? and just as an estimation would it be pricey?..i mean, even worth it? to throw a specific out there...a 1998 Integra Type-R B18C engine..

I can't answer whether it is worth it or not, take a look at the prices, is it worth it to YOU. Most swaps are going to come complete with everything you need, there shouldn't be a need to look for miscellaneous part so there is no sense in me listing each individual part.

Only miscellaneous item I can think of would be the fuel pump and water pump, but the swap will more then likely come with all this.

Personally, I don't think I would go higher than the B18C, the cost of a Type R engine is expensive. I would settle for a JDM GSR engine, it's a good platform to work with and build the head and engine internals.
