Speed sensor problem

Speed sensor problem
When ever i drive, the speedometers dont work and i figured that the problem chould be because i have no clip on my speed sensor to hold the speed cable down?Or chould it be something else. Here are some pictures of my speed sensor from my 88 hf stock motor.
