I was quite surprised to hae nothing found when I searched for this. I recently found out that I have nearly new winter tires on my 96 HX civic. They are wearing down fast on the hot summer roads. I am looking for a fairly inexpensive summer tire set that will be good in the rain to replace them until winter. I would like to have road noise to a min. Duribilty/longevity over grip is essential, I don't need sticky tires for my d/d for sure(completely stock). If you would like to suggest a brand and model of tire, please explain what it is good at, bad at etc.

 

just get tires with higher treadwear.

 

falken ziex 512 = great allseason tire

 

i love my Yokohama AVS ES100 tires, they have a 280treadwear rating.

great in the rain, great in the dry...i'd reccommend them even though they arent the longest lasting tires out there

I ride 205/45/16 Ziex 512's and I like them. They are good in the rain.

i also run on yokohama avs es100's. the wear isnt horribly fast and it sticks like glue to the floor whether its wet or dry. great summer tire

 

I am now limited to only dunlop and goodyear tires as I am getting a very good deal on these brands from a friend I talked to. Any suggestions from these brands? I tried using tirerack but it kept giving me all seasons and I want summer tires.

 

Get some BFGoodrich T/A KD's! They are fairly priced and stick like glue !

 

I have capitol negotiators... i know you probably haven't heard of them.... fairly cheap and i love them... i think the treadwear is 300 or 320... not positive... too lazy to check

 

I checked out the BFGoodrich T/A KD are those a goodyear brand? I don't want those mostly becuase of road noise and what not. I really don't need handling but it seems like summer tires are made for handling only. Not that that is a bad thing but I want these tires to last a long time.

 

I love my Falken Azenis been rollin on them for 6 months and with over 30 passes at the track doing burnouts every run and still havent rotated them

Kumho Ecsta 712:
Good overall tire for the money. Very cheap, sidewalls are stong and they aren't very noisy. Pretty good in the rain as well. Treadwear is kinda short, but about 2 years is how long they last you assuming -- 15000 miles/year regular/aggressive driving.

Falken Azenis:
I wouldn't recommend these for everyday. I have them on my track wheels--many close calls in the rain. These are the ultimate cheap performance tire. Best performance for the money with these tires IMO, but not good for everday/rain tires. They're also quite noisy with a stock set-up. Short life also.

These are the only summer tires i have driven on. I've heard great things about the Yokohama AVS ES100s, like the falkens - a little performance (very close) and much better wet traction.

 

Falken Azenis are decent tires but they are REALLY REALLY heavy because of the reinforced sidewall.

The BFGoodrich T/A KD's aren't a Goodyear tire. Just go to http://www.tirerack.com and search 205/50-15 under the BFGoodrich brand and you will find them. They have a decent treadwear rating, and I guarantee that they will make your car stick to the pavement !

 

Azenis are terrible in bad weather conditions...period.

 

any more suggestions? How about some not so sporty tires for better noise and comfort?

 

Are there any tires out there that are for summer and rain, but are designed for comfort and NOT performance?

 

I would really like to stop wearing down my blizzaks, any suggestions?

Dude, you didn't search very well....I think every day there is a new thread on what tires to buy. Try looking in the archived section. Go to tirerack.com, they have a pretty decent selection of tires.

You wont be disaspointed. Good tread life, and handle well in bad weather conditions. I like mine a lot.
