97 V6 Accord - Shimmy Side-to-Side When Accelerating?
I drove a 97 V6 Accord tonight (that's for sale) and it was really nice, except for a few door dings and light scratches. It drove good, except when I accelerated from a stop while pulling out into traffic there was a "shimmy" from side to side. Not a shimmy like you get when the brake rotors are warped...it was not quite as rapid as in that case. Shimmy probably isn't the best word for it, but I think you get the idea. I didn't get to drive it too much. It also felt like there was a slight shimmy while driving at 60 mph...just barely noticeable.
Ideas?
Thanks in advance...

well i don't know how bad ur roads are there in texas but here in mtl, THEY SUCK!!!
so it's expected to have ur tires follow into grooves of heavy traffic especially with wide performance tires on ur rims... a lil tip.. keep ur hands on da wheel n try to avoid driving with ur knees
... unless ur eating olives, then u gots my permission

either alignment, balancing, or bad tires is your problem check those and see what you come up with
yea what he said, check your tires for being balanced, if it gets worse the faster you go, it very well could be that 5 minute fix...... if ur unlucky you might have something exotic like the lower ball joints that i had to replace on my 87 lxi

What is shimmy? I have a 95 accord v6 which is very similar to your 97 and the steering wheel does seem to follow the road. By that I mean the steering wheel jerks when I hit a bump or a hole. It has a lot of feedback i guess. I think its normal
welcome to the world of torque steering.
the problem gets worst as your tires getting less grip.
i wouldnt worry too much about it(if that's the problem you trying to explain), there's no LSD for the C27(right?) mota
edit: oh yeah, i am glad someone already said something about balljoint. but if it's yanking to the side when you brake, it's the tie rod

Thanks everybody...the tires are less than a month old, so it's not them unless they were just poorly balanced. The road was smooth also...no grooves or potholes...
I've driven a ton of fwd cars with decent HP (I valet part time) and I just don't think this is normal...
