Bottomed out my car, smacked header. What to check for?
Okay, I hit a bad dip about 30-40 Mph and hte car bottomed out and smacked the header. Heat shield on header seemed to protect it (it's a JDM 4-1), but what else do I need to check in a situation like this? Suspension? Bolts holding the header on the engine?
Thanks!
Thanks!
I did that with my Mugen 4-1 header - basically killing it. 2 of the primaries flattened.
The JDM header is the same material (not stainless I think)- and very likely your motor mounts took the brunt of the impact. Still you should check the header mounting bolts and the mounting brackets and the primaries . That's all I can think of...

Chris, check the jdm header hanger that is under your car to make sure it is not bent, also check the top exhaust manifold bolts(to your head) for loosening or cracking. You are probably fine though.

Mark, I don't have the bracket that holds the header on, it's on order from IPS Racing, it's a hard piece ot get. I took an initial look and everything seems fine under the car. The lower heat shield is slightly dented so hopefully the header is fine. I will check the exhaust manifold tommarrow morning. I hope it's all okay.
Big Phat R: I feel for you. I ALSO flattened the 2 Primaries on my Spoon header on who knows what??
Oh well, i think i'm gonna try the Toda header, IF i can find someone to buy my Spoon.

Check the head on the nut that holds the steering wheel. If it hit the roof of the car, the head might be cracked.
hillarious hehe
