anyone ever got factory wheels widened?
had a crazy thought today..... i have heard of people taking steelies and getting them widened all the way up to like a 14x7 for racing purposes..... so i had an idea of widening the factory ITR wheels up to a 15x7.... yea i know its crazy but i like the look of the facory wheels and you could use some wheel spacers to add some offset to make up for the 1" that was added to the back side
anyone ever heard of anything like this being done? flame if you want but i think it is a cool idea

Easy with stamped steel - not so easy with cast aluminum
i think it would be cheaper to buy new 15x7s
The OEM Enkei's aren't THAT great

Reworking aluminum is a bad idea. Get some wider, forged rims.

I've seen Porsche wheels widened. They machine off the rear half of the wheel, then drill the wheel for bolts around the wheel center and use an inner BBS race wheel rim in whatever width you want. I don't know the cost but it must be expensive!

I have seen people take oem aluminum wheels and take some material out of them to make them lighter. You'd better know what you are doing though.

I've seen the same thing Tom, but very $$$. Good idea though.
Tom, are you attending any of the HC races this year, coming out to watch the WC races next weekend?

It cost me over $300 to widen factory steelies several years ago. I know that it's possible with aluminum wheels and I've seen it done on Porsche's and on Mustangs, but it would be much more cost effective to just buy some other wheels.
We just had some factory NSX wheels widened last summer to run drag radials on. We had them add one inch to each rear. The owner wanted a "sleeper" look with factory wheels front and rear......car ran 11.9 with a Basch supercharger.
I think it was $150 per wheel.
