tune up?
ok. i want to kno how much it usually is for a car tune up. like a major one. replacing all the belts and stuff like that. and also.. how much would a valve adjustment be? thanks.
It completely depends upon the shop that you goto. If you have one shop do everything it can be expensive, if you peck and hunt around for deals i'm sure you can get a lot of it done for cheaper. Also, anything you do yourself is a huge boost in cash that stays in your pocket.
wow... where to begin... well first, i would suggest reviewing your car's maintenance schedule and deciding what you feel needs to be done. Then do some research on what you can do on your own, becuase like the other guy said, you really can save a ton of money by doin some of it yourself plus you'll learn alot more about your car. If you wanna know how to do a valve adjustment on a b18b head, go to my website's diy section (linked below in my sig). I have plenty of pics. I also have a diy guide on coolant replacement too which is nice to do now that summer is upon us. spark plugs, cap and rotor, fuel filter these are all relatively straight forward procedures which i'm sure after some review you will feel compelled to do. Then take the remaining tasks to a reputable mechanic.
As for tune-up pricing from mechanics, they may vary from 200 up to almost 700 depending where you go. Parts costs can rack up if you're replacin all pulley belts, timing belt, water pump, cap & rotor, fuel filter, spark plugs, tensioner, etc. Then there's all the labor hours involved for each task....
