Default Questions for JDM Sterring Wheel owners.

1. What affect if any is there for the piece with the two holes and the arrow pointing up being changed to a different angle when putting on the steering wheel?
2. How tight do you put on the nut that holds the wheel on? It was on pretty tight, but I do not want to mess up the steering.

Thanks

its been a while since I changed out the steering wheel, but I think what you are describing with the arrow is the cable reel. If it is the cable reel, you dont use that part with the aftermarket wheel.

Sorry, than you need the cable reel, I was assuming you were installing a non-airbag wheel.

If you don't align it as per the Bible, you will break the real when you turn at full lock. The reel has maximum amount of turns. If you don't set the wheels straight and then allow for an even amount of turns to each side you will snap the reel.

Where can I get a cable reel that is compatible? Instead of the two prong being at an angle, they horizontal. What does the cable reel do exactly?

Thae cable reel keeps the horn and airbag wires from wrapping around the steering column when you turn; therefore, eliminating the risk of sheared wires.

The wheel does slide onto the column with out a problem. The prongs are just at a different angle.

I went through the same BS with this last summer with my R and everybody tells me different. Some tells me no problem rotating the cable reel to align it with the JDM 98specR momo because u just end up having delay one side with signal return and some tells me it would break the reel because now u end up turning less on one side on full lock to lock. I had it, so i gave it back to the kid who were selling it. I didnt want to risk breaking a over $200.00 Cable reel to find out.

There is plenty of play in the cable reel from side to side past that which the steering wheel can turn. Have had no problems at all. the horn still works and the SRS light has not come on. The only thing is the directionals do not pop off when turning certain dirctions.
