Default 10inch Sub choices?

Hey hters,

I went to an audio store over the past weekend and asked them what would be the best sub for someone who occasionaly listens to rap, but mostly rock and wants something that hits hard but not too drawn out. I thought a 10inch sub, and they suggested a JL Audio 10W0, which was selling for 90$. This was within my price range, and I was just wondering what other subs I should look at that are really for a minor SQ setup.

I also know I should be looking at an amp, but have no idea where to start. These subs are supposed to be bridged at 125 W @ 4 ohms, but I cant find any amps with that low of a rating. Can someone help me out? thanks.

W0's are cool, W3's and W6's are better though. Just stick with good known brands, JL, Rockford, Alpine... and get an amp that puts out enough power.

w3s handle more power and will get louder, dunno bout the cost you check it out at your local places

go out and listen to cars with sound systems, get friends who can install it for you, and but kicker subs, can't lose with that combo

I just got a 10" Alpine Type R and I couldn't be happier. It is in a sealed box (.66^3 after displacement), and plenty loud.....it also provides some very good SQ IMHO. I would check those out.

i own stereo shop in so cal, and i've heard a lot of 10 inch woofers, and one of my favorite woofers is the hollywood excursion. I was VERY impressed with this sub and it is very inexpensive. That would deffinetly be my choice with a low budget...

hey ball player: that hollywood, how cheap are we talking and how is longevity? Have you installed many of these before? What were the comments of the customers? And what is the competition of this sub?

well i dont want to spend above 125$ for the sub and 250$ for the amp, so i think the 10w6 is out of my range right?

I just picked up 2 10" xtant subs for 80 bucks for the set on SOUNDDOMAIN.com. i dont know if they still have the promotional 2 for one. but they did have some 10" xtant subs for 40 bucks. So go check it out!! I will have them in this weekend and can let u know how they sound.

Im powering them with a 300x1 mono rockford fosgate amp that i got off discountjungle.net for 125 bucks brand new. So lets see thats about $225 for my combo, and both are reputable brands. this weekend well tell, but i dont think i lost in that situation

iv'e sold about 10 of them in the past month, as well as had them in my own personal cars. Just like any speaker, they will blow if you overpower the hell out of it. and depending on who you buy it from and how much they want to make off of em, you might be able to pick them up for around 70-100 each....

if youre really stuck on those jl audio 10w0. go with the jl "e" class 1200 amp. the power matches perfectly for the w0. pick em up at your local good guys and they might give you a deal. you'll probably be spending around 200 for both of those.
