starting engine problem?

starting engine problem?
well when i start my car it struggles a bit to start..... and ignigion is hard alot of the times to get it started.... doesnt go lower then 1000 rpm's and when i switch gears sumtimes my car shakes...... any help will be very much needed?

217000 miles on the engine?!?!?! Problems like you state can be quite difficult to diagnose on older cars. Maybe others can chip in, but myself, i cannot even start to help you without seeing the car.

it has a little trouble starting..... engine runs great second gear grinds. still pulls really hard for a HF. just hopefully will last me till i get a complete swap. thinking about Basic LS for now... how much would i be able to get it for with everything i need for it?

maybe advance the timing slightly.. my old auto-tech teacher always did it on old v8s to help them fire up.
but it could be your fuel pump... mines starting to take a **** on me and the trick is i have to let it sit in the on position to prime a while before it'll start otherwise it cranks forever also makin me lean out at high rpm. but you shouldn't have to worry about that with your HF motor
