Header Bracket Bolts
First.. The short story..
I was driving to work today and once I slowed down for the tolls at the Delaware Memorial bridge I heard this aweful metallic rattling sound. Since I just did my first valve adjustment, I thought my valves got bent or something. I pulled over the side of the road fearing the worst. Revved the engine. No noise. Good. I can stop doubting my mechanic skills. I tried inching forward again and there was that noise again. So I call Acura TLC and one hour later I get a tow back to NJ. I was thinking, maybe my LSD took a blow or some of its teeth were rolling around in the casing.
Well, after waiting at the dealer for 3 hours, I got the bad news.. The labor wasn't covered because .. well, here's their description
Total damage $114.48
It was the header bracket bolts that bolt to the engine block that came loose.. Anyone else had problems with theirs coming loose? I swear I tightened them down real good back in August. I can't believe that I got raped at the dealer. I paid the mechanic $108 just to crank down a couple of bolts! What's worse, I don't think they really worked on the car for 1 1/2 hours. . When I checked the car at around 1 pm, no one had touched it yet.. Maybe 45 minutes later they came back and told me what it was.. Next time I have to get my car fixed I'm going to write down the times so they can't overcharge me. Grr.
If those bolts work their way loose again, I'm just going to remove the bracket. I just like the piece of mind that there is some extra support for the exhaust system.

"Found that bolt from newly installed exhaust system fell out and wedged between axle and engine block, also installed a missing bolt"
