i like it, but worried about the 750 rms even though the gain is hardly cracked on my amp!

you blew the sub already?! man o man. you need to start takin' your time with this ****. from the looks of the wiring in your pics, you're not exactly a perfectionist.
aren't the tantrums 300-400 watt subs anyway?

In this section of the forum we don't care if you drive a Honda, many don't.

How did you blow your sub? If it was an electrical failure more than likely you over powered it.

ok let me explain, the sub was broken in at 8ohms for hours, at least 6

i had the gain on the amp down, the gain ov the x-over down and the bass on the h/u down

but i fucked up when the jay-z song plated

'if you fellin like a pimp ***** go on brush you shoulders off'

turned up the crossover and the 'bass boost' on it, then i turned up the sub gain on the h/u and it was knocking hard for a few hours until it fried

but its ok i caried it to be repaired today getting it back soon, its 350 rms i was giving it 750, maybe ill just wire it at 8ohms

It's class D and I bet 8 ohms is out of it's design parameters. If sound quality is not that important I would guess it's 60% or so of the 4 ohm power.

so you are saying the sq wont be great?

its what 440 at 4ohms, so 60% of that should be good for a 350rms sub right?

i didn't do mathematics in high school

It's not pure math involved. It has to do with the fact that with a class D amp the distortion can increase greatlty if the amp is operated with a higher impedance load than it is designed for. It all has to do with the switching frequency of the amp. I do not have any directed amps to test, so you will have to determine if the bass sounds mushy with it at 8 ohms. Personally I wouldn't run a woofer I cared about, wired at 8 ohms, on an amp that was designed to run at 4 ohms and less.

i think you get the point i got it for about 50 bucks i care about it as much as i care about a grain of sand

well since the 8ohms is iffy, im going to wire it back to 2ohms!

all of my past systems have worked

what do you mean? define works?

if you are asking me why i dont save for a w7 its because i dont want something too expensive in my car

and i like to change subs just to say ive used so and so

i switched it from 8ohms back to 2ohms cause it sounded horrible

like the sub was in muddy water

oh yeah i put it back in the sealked box today, sounds better than ported, think ill sell it soon and go back to comp vrs for a while

so basically you dont get subs because you want a full range system in ur car, you want to be able to tell people youve used this sub and that... i wonder if clubsi.com has an audio section...

i mean i guess do what you want, its ur money and ur time... i just think its weird that you go from this and that so often. i figure most people just want to get something in their car that will sound good or loud or even both, and then settle in with it and enjoy it. if you love changing subs so much, you really ought to get a job doin this sort of thing and test it on other peoples cars. just a thought.
